La película de ciencia ficción, protagonizada por Will Smith en 1996, tendrá una segunda parte que llega 20 años después. Resurgence es la manera en que director Roland Emmerich da continuidad a la historia, dejando el futuro del planeta en una nueva generación de héroes.

Los nuevos encargados de traer paz a la tierra son Jeff Goldblum, Sela Ward y Liam Hemsworth, humanos y alienigenas se han preparado durante 20 años para un letal enfrentamiento entre mundos.

Además del tráiler, Fox ha revelado algunas imágenes del elenco en el set de filmación. Así como un vídeo en donde el director del proyecto y el elenco dan algunas pistas sobre la historia que vuelve a la pantalla grande tras dos décadas de ausencia.

El 24 de junio de este año Día de la independencia: Contraataque llegará a salas de cine en México.
